Les Halles de Biarritz

A lively indoor market with local cheese, produce, pastries, and more. Ideal if you're doing any cooking—or just snacking.

Take a lovely walk from town to the lighthouse for sweeping views and a bite or drink at the nearby café.

Rocher de la Vierge

A scenic walkway to Biarritz’s most famous rock (complete with a statue of the Virgin Mary). Just steps from shopping and restaurants.

Surf Lessons

Biarritz is the birthplace of European surfing. Lessons are available all over town for beginners and pros alike.

There are several great courses nearby, including Golf de Biarritz Le Phare—one of France’s oldest. Bring your clubs or rent locally.

Courts are easy to find, and padel (a tennis/squash hybrid) is super popular here. Many hotels can help you reserve time.

Saint-Jean-de-Luz (20 minutes)

A picturesque harbor town perfect for a relaxed afternoon of exploring and snacking. For the history buffs, check out the Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste where Louis XIV (the Sun King) married Marie-Thérèse in 1660.

San Sebastián (30 minutes)

Just over the Spanish border, this food-loving city is packed with pintxos bars, beaches, and charm.

Bordeaux (~2 hours)

More than just wine (though yes, the wine is excellent). The city’s full of elegant architecture, cobblestone streets, and riverside cafés. Be sure to carve out time to visit vineyards and the historic village of Saint-Émilion.

Chic and low-key at the same time (Cory would describe it as the Cape Cod of France). Think oysters, pine forests, beautiful beaches, and lazy bike rides. Read about it here!
